Dino Crisis - PS1
Retired 1st February 2026
On paper I should love Dino Crisis - it was developed by Capcom during the RE series trilogy days and plays in a similar manner. I had attempted the game many years ago and just stopped playing, so I thought that I would give it another chance.
After an initial good start I just found the game to feel rather tedious after a while and decided to retire the game. The game I have heard is less action orientated than the sequel and that did appeal to me, but going through the same bland corridors made me feel like I would rather be playing other PlayStation 1 games such as Soul Reaver or RE 1 - 3.
There is a lot of love for this game, but it is just not for me. Although, I do like that save room music!
King Kong - PS2
Retired 2nd February 2026
King Kong is another one of those retro games that I bought a few years ago, tried for a while and just stopped for whatever reason. So I decided to give the game another go as many people highly rate the game and the creator behind one of my favourite games (Beyond Good and Evil) was involved in the creation of the game.
I can see why people at the time of release have fond memories of the game as many games based on movies during the PS2 era were not very good and King Kong is definitely better than many movie based games of the time.
It was fun enough, but was not hugely compelling - I would rather just watch the movie than play the game and it is with that thought that I decided to retire the game.
Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines - PSP
Completed 5th February 2026
I used to be a huge Assassin's Creed fan, but since the game series started changing genre and feeling more inspired by the Witcher style of games I have fallen out of love with new entries in the series. I remember Bloodlines was released for the PSP around the time that Assassin's Creed II was released, but I never had a PSP so I did not play it at the time.
When I still bought Assassin's Creed games I only concentrated on the main games that were released for home consoles and did not pay attention to handheld spin offs. When I looked more into the PSP entry it seemed surprisingly compelling to me so I ended up buying it a few years ago when I bought a second hand PSP.
I attempted the game and it seemed promising, but again it is another retro game I bought but never played much - so now I have decided to give it another chance.
In Bloodlines you play as the star of the first game, Altair, and I thought would be good to play another Assassin's Creed where Altair is the main character. (He also played him a little in Revelations which was the fourth Assassins Creed on non handheld consoles, eventhough the next Assassin's Creed game was called Assassin's Creed III!)
While not amazing Bloodlines plays quite impressively well - the developer has somehow managed to capture the feeling of the Assassin's Creed games on what amounts to essentially a PlayStation 2.
Bloodlines is not a better game than the first Assassin's Creed but the structure of the missions are played out better and way less repetitive than the first Assassin's Creed that was released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.
