Final Fantasy IX - PC (GOG) Retired 13th May 2026 I have never been a hardcore Final Fantasy fan, but I played number VII on the original PlayStation and X on the PlayStation 2 and I enjoyed both games immensely. More recently I played Final Fantasy VIII on the Switch and both Final Fantasy VII Remake part 1 and part 2 on the PlayStation 4 and 5. As I enjoyed Final Fantasy VIII recently I thought I would also try Final Fantasy IX, which was originally released on the first PlayStation console. When I saw Final Fantasy IX on sale via GOG.com I thought I would purchase and finally try the game. I have heard many Final Fantasy fans talk highly about the ninth title, many seem to react positively to the game as they mark it as a return to the fantasy setting of the earlier games before Final Fantasy VII and VII ventured more into SCI-FI territory.
