Metro 2033 Redux - PC (Epic)
Retired 28th April 2026
Metro is, again, another game that I claimed for free on Epic games. I remember playing a demo of Metro 2033 a long time ago and found it interesting, but I never did buy the game. I have heard many positives about the Metro franchise and when I saw this game was available for free I decided to claim it whilst I could.
I am not a huge First Person Shooter fan, but I thought I would give the Metro games a try and for a time I was enjoying myself with Metro 2033 Redux - although, I never felt it was as good as something such as Half Life 2. I especially enjoyed the early parts of chapter 3 as there was some interesting otherworldly type of drama.
But, sadly at a certain point of the game the whole first person shooter feeling started to creep in and I really was no longer clicking with the experience.
And thus I have decided to retire another game I claimed for free.
Ghostrunner - PC (Epic)
Retired 28th April 2026
Ghostrunner is another game that I claimed for free on Epic games and I finally started to play the game. Ghostrunner is a first person game that is focussed on fast platforming and quick combat. I remember playing a demo of the game when it was first released and thinking that it seemed like an interesting concept.
Ghostrunner is a game I thought I would buy one day, but it was eventually listed on Epic for free for a week, so I thought I might as well claim the game.
The game seems to be well liked by people and after having played the game for a little time I came to the conclusion that the experience was just not for me. I was hoping it would be a little more like Mirror's Edge, but the whole 1 hit and you have to retry the section put me off.
I initially attempted the game with a controller, but when I tried keyboard and mouse controls the game felt better to me - especially on the movement aspect. But, alas this was not enough to make me want to continue with the game - I would just rather play Mirror's Edge.
