RE 4 Remake: Separate Ways DLC - PC (Steam)
Completed April 20th 2026
Back in 2023 I played and enjoyed the Resident Evil 4 Remake on the PlayStation 5. Despite enjoying the game one thing did not sit quite right with me - and that was the voice acting behind the iconic Ada Wong character.
The RE games have had its history of bad voice acting in the earlier games, but the games have really improved in the voice acting area over the years - even as early as the OG RE2. Usually I do not mind a little bit of campy acting in the RE games or even the odd character that is not acted that well.
However when it came to RE 4 Remake I was very disappointed with Ada Wong's voice - especially since the voice actress behind Ada's voice in RE 2 Remake did a stellar job. If the same voice was behind a lesser character with a smaller role in the RE series then I would not have minded that much, but Ada is such an iconic character it just seemed that the voice they went with for RE 4 Remake was the wrong choice. At times in RE 4 Remake Ada just seemed too cold and lacking of emotion toward Leon and her delivery at points just seemed like she was bored.
The chemistry that Leon and Ada should have had with each other was sadly missing in Ada's RE 4 performance. We were lucky to enjoy Leon and Ada's chemistry in RE 2 Remake, so felt like Ada in RE 4 Remake was a step backwards.
Thanks, to PC modders we have the choice of not only one Ada voice replacement mod, but two! The 02Rainer Ada Wong Replacer Mod is my favourite of the two new voices for Ada and Ada Wong Voice Mod - The Definitive Edition is the other great mod that has been created by a different Modder. Sadly, only the The Definitive Edition works with the 'Separate Ways' DLC mod.
With the knowledge that I could play the Separate Ways DLC, that stars Ada as the main character with the new voice, I jumped at the chance to play the PC version - and of course, I waited for the game and the DLC to be listed on sale!
I may try the 02 Rainer voice mod and replay through RE 4 Remake main story another time - Ada does not appear until around chapter 5, to I may give it some time or play a chapter at a time.
Overall, I thought the DLC was very enjoyable and in many ways I enjoyed it more than RE 3 Remake - even though I am more of a fan of the earlier style of survival horror RE games. It felt quite substantial for a DLC, even compared to DLC for other RE titles such as 7 and Village.
